Improving Cryptographic Processing with Intel® Technology

The white paper describes the performance increase for cryptographic applications that is achieved with the 2nd generation Intel® Core™ processor family over Intel® microarchitecture code name Westmere.

The shows the results on a small representative sample set of algorithms, revealing a net improvement in cryptographic performance speed up to 1.8X3 faster than previous Intel processors.

Cryptographic algorithms, such as secure hashing or encryption, occur in networking, storage and other applications. Because the amount of data being processed is large and increasing at a rapid rate, there is an ever-increasing need for high-performance implementations of these algorithms. Intel® technology outlined in this white paper provides that boost in performance speed.
