Redefine Gaming Performance
Make your game faster and more immersive than ever by overclocking1 DDR4/DDR5 memory using Intel® Extreme Memory Profile technology.2 3
What Is Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP)?
Intel® Extreme Memory Profile (Intel® XMP) lets you overclock1 compatible DDR4 /DDR5 memory modules to enhance the gaming features built into PCs with Intel® Core™ processors.1
Certification Program
Memory vendors test their modules following Intel’s Intel® XMP test plans, in addition to their own. Test results are recorded along with the specific processor, motherboard, and BIOS version used. Once passing test logs are reviewed by Intel modules are considered for addition to the Intel® XMP certified list. You can view Intel® XMP compatible memory modules from leading vendors at the links below.
Intel® XMP Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Enables preset or user-defined memory profiles that can be selected depending on usage model. For example, an aggressive, low-latency profile could be used during intense gaming, while the default memory setting can be used for everyday home computing, such as home office or web browsing.
Enables memory module suppliers to program their own capabilities and provide unique value to end users.
Enables end users to easily overclock1 their platforms by selecting the appropriate profile instead of adjusting individual parameters in BIOS. Reselecting the default profile resets the platform to default setting.
Expert users can manually change specific SPD parameters in the BIOS and save the profiles (platform/BIOS specific).
Intel XMP memory modules will first boot with the default JEDEC settings. This ensures the first boot is successful even if the system does not support overclocking. After the first fail-safe boot, Intel XMP profiles can be selected in BIOS and applied to all subsequent boots.
Altering the frequency and/or voltage outside of Intel specifications may void the processor warranty. Examples: Overclocking and enabling Intel® XMP, which is a type of memory overclocking, and using it beyond the given specifications may void the processor warranty.
Intel® XMP Certified memory modules have been tested on specific motherboards using specified processors. Memory vendors execute the Intel® XMP Self-Certification test plan to ensure users can overclock1 with greater confidence. Intel® XMP Certified modules are included in the Intel® XMP Memory for Intel® Core™ processors datasheet.
XMP2.0 is for DDR4. It supports 2 profiles.
Intel XMP 3.0 is designed specifically for DDR5. It supports up to 5 profiles (3-vendor and 2-rewirteable). XMP3.0 includes new capabilities to improve user experience, support on module voltage control, and others.
Follow these steps to identify if a desktop (built-in) computer is compatible with Intel® XMP:
1. Check if the motherboard is listed as compatible with Intel® XMP by confirming it with the manufacturer.
2. Check if the memory module is Intel® XMP Certified.
For laptops or your OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) PC, contact the manufacturer to confirm if the model of the computer is compatible with Intel® XMP.
